Aamilah Aswat handed 20-day whip ban Conditional jockey Aamilah Aswat has been hit with a 20-day suspension having been found to have used her whip five times above the permitted allowance at Chepstow last week. Aswat became the first black female jump jockey to ride a winner in the UK in February and has already had five winners. However, she has met with the first bump in the road in her short career to date having fallen foul of the rules on board Reallyntruthfully who finished fourth in the DragonBet John Ayres Memorial Handicap Hurdle for Kim Bailey and Mat Nicholls, with whom she is based. Aswat used her whip 12 times and was suspended for 20 days from October 27 to November 15, with one day to include specialised coaching. Fox Suspended After Wolverhampton Merits Inquiry Jockey Kieren Fox has been handed a 10-day ban after the stewards deemed he did not take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure his horse was run on its merits at Wolverhampton on Tuesday evening. Fox finished fourth of the nine runners in the Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Novice Stakes on the Charlie Pike-trained 40-1 outsider Missmisfortune. The stewards questioned Fox on his efforts inside the final furlong noting that he used his whip just once in the closing stages and that and appeared to ride “with a questionable level of vigour” to the finish. Fox was suspended for 10 days from October 27-31 and November 2-6.
