Abbyssial disappoints at Auteuil

The Willie Mullins-trained Abbyssial was a bitter disappointment as Roll On Has claimed top honours in the Prix Alain du Breil at Auteuil.

Mullins won the Grade One contest with Diakali 12 months ago and Abbyssial was all the rage for this year's renewal following his runaway victory in the Champion Four Year Old Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival.

He was sent into an early lead by Ruby Walsh, but was passed by outsider Liberte D'Aimer with a circuit to run and although he was still tracking that rival turning into the straight, the even-money favourite weakened quickly out of contention.

Liberte D'Aimer appeared to have stolen a march on the rest of the field, but 3-1 shot Roll On Has, trained by Jean Paul Gallorini and ridden by Vincent Cheminaud, mowed down the leader on the run to the line to score by a length.

Abbyssial passed the post in sixth, one place behind his lesser fancied stable companion Gitane Du Berlais, who never got into the race under Jacques Ricou.
