Absolute Ruler (9/2) was very professional on debut when taking the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden under Gavin Ryan.

The Donnacha O’Brien-trained War Front colt, a full-brother to two winners including last year’s Tyros Stakes scorer Military Style, tracked the leaders on the inside before launching his challenge early in the straight.

He got past Amortentia (9/4) entering the final furlong and ran on well to beat that one by a length and a quarter.

The 10/11 favourite Moony Beams couldn’t go with the front pair from over a furlong out and finished five and a half lengths further back in third.

“He’s a smart colt,” said Ryan.

“Donnacha was always very happy with his work at home. Kevin Tobin rides him out every day and he’s always really liked him from the start as well.

“I’m delighted that he’s come up here and done that on his debut and proved everyone right.

“He has a lovely pedigree. It’s a family with plenty of black type in it and his mother (Together Forever) won a Group 1 as a juvenile. He’s a lovely big relaxed horse and will have no problem stepping up to a mile and a quarter.

“He had a nice blow pulling up so he has more to give.”
