Academy Sir Harry out for the season

Promising novice hurdler Academy Sir Harry will miss the remainder of this season after chipping a bone.

The six-year-old son of Dushyantor was a general 20/1 chance for both the Supreme Novices' Hurdle and the Ballymore Properties Novices' Hurdle having won three of his five career starts including both outings over hurdles this season.

The Eoin Griffin-trained gelding made a successful debut over timber in a Fairyhouse maiden, and followed up in the Grade 3 'For Auction' Novice Hurdle at Navan in November.

However what appeared at the time to be a minor injury sustained in that Navan race will leave him sidelined for the rest of this season.

'He came back in with a cut fetlock at Navan but it seemed quite minor on the day. The impact was obviously significant, although it was not until the next morning that we discovered he was very lame,' explained Griffin.

'He's chipped a bone in his sesamoid, and it required surgery. He's gone for this season but hopefully will make a good recovery and be back next year,' said the Co. Kilkenny trainer.
