Acclamatio may have been well beaten over hurdles on his last visit to Thurles just over a year ago but he ran out an easy winner on the level back at the Tipperary track this afternoon.

The Tony Martin-trained gelding was sent to post the 5/1 favourite for the Littleton Handicap.

It looked a drop in grade after finishing mid-division in a competitive heat at Leopardstown five days ago.

Robbie Colgan produced his mount to lead over a furlong from home and he powered clear in the closing stages to record an eight-length success.

"I always thought he'd win one but he was getting frustrating up to today. Maybe the better ground brought out the best in him, I don't know but I'm just happy it happened,” said Martin.

"I'll talk to his owner and see what he wants to do but he is versatile and can go on the flat or over hurdles."
