Accordion Note-Perfect At Navan

French Accordion was handed a first-show quote of 20-1 for the Arkle after a seamless victory at Navan.

Paul Nolan appears to have another useful recruit on his hands as his charge waltzed to victory in the Harrmack Developments Fortria Chase.

The seven-year-old was winning for the fourth time on the bounce but this Grade Two win certainly represents a career-best performance for the full brother of stablemate Accordion Etoile.

John Cullen settled his mount just off the fierce gallop set by Kahuna and had no trouble quickening to the front two fences from home.

The well-fancied Central House could not go with him as Nolan's 11-8 joint-favourite left him in his wake.

Kahuna stayed on for second, 14 lengths in arrears.

Nolan said: 'The horse had a bruised foot about 10 days ago and missed some work.

'At the entry stage, the plan was even not to run.

'But realising it was going to be small field I just thought ?if we're not in it, we can't win it'.

'He loves good ground, jumps well and should stay at least two and a half miles.

'The plan at the moment is to run in the Drinmore Chase at Fairyhouse, providing the ground is no worse than good to yielding.'

French Accordion has been installed by Irish firm Cashmans as a 20-1 chance for the Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival, while William Hill cut his Hennessy price from 33s to 16-1.

Sweet Kiln gave the Bowe family their fourth victory in the Philips Electronics Lismullen Hurdle.

Making all under Tom Doyle, the eight-year-old mare hurdled efficiently at the head of affairs and had all bar Rosaker cooked turning for home.

Noel Meade's charge looked threatening in his bid for a third victory in the race but Sweet Kiln (9-4) sprinted away again in the final two furlongs for a nine-length verdict.

Trained by Michael Bowe and owned by his father, James, Sweet Kiln was following up Lismullen Hurdle victories for Limestone Lad in 2002 and Solerina in 2004 and 2005.

Ruby Walsh gave Quinmaster (7-4) a fine ride to win the Bar-One Racing 'For Auction' Novice Hurdle.

Only three went to post for the Grade Three event but there was nothing between them in the betting and so it proved on the track.

Lyceum took the small field along with Meadow Vale in his shadow, with Walsh content to bide his time.

But he produced the five-year-old to take up the running at the last and sprinted clear for an impressive two-and-a-half-length win.

Trainer Michael Halford said: 'Ruby gave him a very patient ride and used his speed to really good effect.

'He'll possibly be targeted at either the Fairyhouse or the Punchestown Festival, but it all depends on the ground.'
