Account gets one over on Fame And Glory

Fictional Account for her trainer Vincent Ward with Fran Berry aboard caused a 14/1 upset in the Listed Irish Field St Leger Trial Stakes overturning the hot 1/3 favourite Fame And Glory by a neck at the line.

Having beaten the winner on there three previous meetings Fame And Glory was expected to do so again here but he couldn't peg her back inside the final furlong.

The 7yo winning daughter of Stravinsky finished just a length and a half behind Fame And Glory twice this season at Navan and Leopardstown but was disappointing in the Ascot Gold Cup where she finished a well beaten twelfth.

She had the advantage of a recent run over Fame And Glory having finished a close third to Sense Of Purpose at Leopardstown last month.

This was her second Listed win having won the Fenwolf Stakes over two miles at Ascot last September at 16/1.

Having raced in second off a slow pace in the early stages behind Saddler's Rock the winner hit the front early in the straight. She kept on well from there when ridden and despite drifting right inside the final furlong, hampering Saddler's Rock, she done enough to hold off the challenge of the favourite by a neck.

The Stewards called an Enquiry after the race because of the winner drifting close home but the result remained unchanged.

Winning trainer Vincent Ward said afterwards: "The ground was against her in (Royal) Ascot. I only have four in training and is it wonderful to be able to win a race like this.

"She doesn’t deserve to loose it (in the Stewards Room). She will go to Doncaster now for the Doncaster Cup but that is ground dependant.

"She was suppose to go to York during the week but it was a frustrating week watching the weather.

"She is in the sales too but I think we will keep her after that.

"We are lucky to have her and she is a fantastic, unbelievable mare.

"We might look at the (Irish) St Leger now as well but everything is ground depend and in fairness to the Curragh they have the ground perfect today."
