Runner-up at Galway last month, the Gavin Cromwell trained Addragoole went one better when opening his account over fences in the Christy "Frosty" Callaghan Memorial Beginners Chase at Sligo.

Sent off 2/1f, the Keith Donoghue partnered gelding chased leader Telecon for much of the contest. Travelling the strongest of the pair after three out, the son of Gatewood came off the bridle after the penultimate fence.

With nothing separating the two leaders jumping the last, Telecon departed at that obstacle, leaving the way clear for Addragoole to land a one-and-three-quarter lengths win.

Keith Donoghue said: "He had the form in the book and got the job done.

"He'd a good run in Galway the last day.

"We'd a little bit of luck on our side with Philip's horse (Rothwell, Telecon) falling at the last. I'm not sure if I had him or not at the time, I felt like I had but it's only an opinion. We stayed up and we won, thankfully.

"We went a good even gallop and there were a lot of solid horses in it with the same kind of ratings, around that 125/130 mark, and it rode like that level of race."
