Aintree Back On McKelvey Agenda

Last season's Grand National runner-up McKelvey will head back to Aintree for another crack at the ultra-valuable marathon in April.

Peter Bowen's eight-year-old sustained an injury when finishing less than a length behind Silver Birch in the four-mile-four-furlong thriller.

However, his Pembrokeshire-based handler is expecting to have him back on track later this term, with a similar build-up in the offing.

Bowen told At The Races: 'He'll definitely be back for this season but he's out in the field having a break at the moment.

'He'll probably come in at about the 1st of December, have one spin over hurdles, and then do the same as last year and go for the National.'
