All Systems Go For Visindar

Connections of Visindar do not anticipate the unique track or the big-race ballyhoo being a problem for the Vodafone Derby favourite at Epsom on Saturday week.

The son of 2000 Derby hero Sinndar has been all the rage for the race since an effortless victory in a Group Two at Saint-Cloud earlier in the month.

The Aga Khan-owned three-year-old is as short as 6-4 to land what would be a first Derby for master French trainer Andre Fabre.

'We've seen all the trials now but it's difficult to know the merit of the form of each race when all those horses come together,' said Pat Downes, racing manager to the owner.

'At the moment we are very happy with our horse. He has been very well since winning at Saint-Cloud and we just hope he turns up in top form on the day.

'We've always felt that he would be at his best on a good surface so we wouldn't be looking for a particularly soft surface on the day,' Downes told At The Races.

'He appears to be a very well-balanced individual but you don't really know until you see them running on the course how they are going to handle it but I hope it won't be a problem for him.

'The occasion will be a bit of an unknown as well but for all his races in France he has shown a sound temperament and he seems a very relaxed individual so I wouldn't anticipate that should be a problem either.

'Andre has never won a Derby and he has had varying degrees of luck when he has had a runner in it but he is taking some comfort from the fact the the green and red colours know their way to the winning post.

'If everything goes according to plan at Epsom we will probably be looking at the Curragh after that for the Irish Derby and the Arc would come into calculations for an autumn campaign.'
