After easily winning a Killarney maiden on Monday, Alphecca was turned out again quickly and scooped a big pot when landing the Irish EBF Auction Series Race Final at Naas.

Gary Carroll 's mount sat second to Celestial Joy and headed that rival entering the final furlong to post a length and a half win for trainer Joe Murphy.

The winner, owned by her breeder Gerard Kervick and Crampscastle Bloodstock Ltd, was supported from 9/2 into 10/3 joint-favourite before the off.

Carroll said:"That was great and a lovely pot to win for the filly. It’s Ger Kervick’s first homebred so he’s delighted.

“She’s an improving filly. They took a chance running her back quickly from Killarney but it paid dividends.

“She did everything right, picked up and got to the line really strong. A mile is probably her trip and I think she can get black type next year.”
