Alvarado making way back towards Aintree Alvarado, fourth in last season's Crabbie's Grand National, is set to have his first run of the campaign at Cheltenham on January 24. Trainer Fergal O'Brien reports his 10-year-old to be ready to return to action ahead of another crack at the world's greatest steeplechase at Aintree in April. There are two possible races for Alvarado at Cheltenham's Festival Trials meeting, while O'Brien has also given his stable star an entry in the Skybet Chase at Doncaster on the same day. "Hopefully he'll go to Cheltenham later in the month. He's back in full work and all's going well," said O'Brien. "There's a couple of races there for him and I've got him in the Skybet Chase at Doncaster as well the same day."
