Amanirenas bounces back to form off career low mark Off a career low mark of 46, Amanirenas was a game winner of the Gilna's Cottage Inn Handicap. Twice successful last season, but out of form this campaign, the Michael Grassick-trained six-year-old was available at 14s in early shows for this six-furlong heat. Eventually returned a 13/2 chance, the War Command bay was soon settled behind the leaders on the inner, taking closer order when pushed along by Dylan Browne McMonagle with two-furlongs to go. In a share of the lead from the furlong pole, she had a good tussle with Cu Chulainn from there on, with just a neck between them at the line. The Laura Hourigan-trained runner-up was returned a 15/2 chance under Wayne Hassett, with Hasiyna (5/1) a further two-and-a-quarter lengths back in third. Sent off the 9/2 favourite, Lismacbryan attempted to make all but faded with over a furlong to go and eventually finished fifth. Registering a sixth career success, the winner is owned by the NC (Newbridge College) Past Pupils Syndicate. "She just lost her way, for whatever reason, I don't know," Grassick remarked. "If you watch her run in Leopardstown the last day, she looked like she was going to win a furlong down. It was her first time with a pair of blinkers and Gavin (Ryan) just said she was too gassy. "I'd say it was just the beach and she is well handicapped on last year's form. She seems to like the beach - we brought her up a few weeks ago, for a couple of weeks, to Donabate and she seemed to like it. "We said we would give it a go (in Laytown), so the plan was to give her her last run here today and see how we got on. Whether we are tempted to run her again, I don't know." On Dylan Browne McMonagle, he added: "Great ride. I didn't realise she was actually headed and she battled back. He waits, he didn't go for the stick and waited until he basically had to. There's only one place you have to be in front." STEWARDS REPORTS * S.
