Amateur Doyle has claim reduced at Roscommon Amateur jockey David Doyle had his riding claim reduced to 5lb today having partnered a 25th success, appropriately doing so on Getaway Charlie (28/1) for his father trainer Tim Doyle, in Roscommon’s Railway Bar Handicap Hurdle. The ten-year-old had provided rider Doyle with his second ride in a bumper March 2022, and while the gelding had been winless for almost three years today, scored under a patient ride when beating runner-up Let Him B by 4.5 lengths. Jockey Doyle, champion under-21 rider for the 2024/25 point-to-point season, reported “Getaway Charlie was out of form but dropped down the grades and had cheekpieces on today. He seemed to be coming into form at home, he travelled and jumped everywhere, they went a good gallop early and that suited. “He likes to be passing horses and everything worked out well. I probably got there a bit soon but I was going so easy I said I may as well keep going with him. “It’s great to ride a winner for my father. That’s my 7lb claim gone as well and it’s great to do it for him. “I’m at home three or four days a week and you can see all the hard work that goes into it.
