The Aidan O'Brien-trained Amelia Earhart (4/6 fav) was a facile winner of the opening Irish EBF Fillies Maiden (Smullen Series) at Leopardstown in the hands of Jack Cleary.

The daughter of Camelot, placed in three maidens before finishing fourth in a Group 3 on her previous start, was prominent throughout and went clear early in the straight to beat Chasing Paradise by seven lengths.

Stable representative Chris Armstrong said:- “She’s had four lovely runs coming into this race. The step up to a mile really allowed her to show her true potential.

“She’s a filly that has shown a lot of class at home and we always knew going the extra furlong was going to be a big help to her.

“It’s lovely to get the win next to her name as a two-year-old. She’ll be a lovely filly to start off in an Oaks trial next year. She’s a filly with a touch of class.

“We entered her the other day for the Curragh on Tuesday but I’d say that’ll be her now.

“She’s one to really look forward to next year.

“Jack gave her a lovely ride.”
