Sophie Carter has described a feeling of 'excited nerves', as she readies herself for the challenge of riding over the Aintree fences in the Randox Foxhunters' Open Hunters' Chase next month.

Winning the Ladies Derby at the Curragh in 2024, Carter added another notable prize to her collection when partnering the Mags Mullins-trained Let's Go Champ to victory in the Tetratema Cup at Gowran.

Successful in Grade 3 company when in the care of Henry de Bromhead, the now 11-year-old was sourced by bloodstock agent Jerry McGrath for current owner John Duggan of Knockeen Stables, Tullahought, Co Kilkenny.

"He's in good form and the plan is to go to Aintree for the Foxhunters," Carter revealed.

"It's one of those races you've grown up watching and it's always been a dream to ride over the fences. It's more like excited nerves for me at the moment.

"He did everything he needed to do on the day at Gowran. We were hoping he'd just qualify for Aintree, but to win it and beat the favourite (Hunters Yarn) was great.

"I ride out with Mags two days a week. I'm freelancing at the moment and do work for a few point-to-point trainers like Willie Murphy and Sue O'Gorman."
