Amiata strikes for Lyons & Keane Colin Keane was on the mark in the The Enjoy Racing TV With A FREE Trial Now Handicap at Naas as he brought Amiata (5/1) from the back of the field to score in good style. The Dark Angel gelding was given an opening mark of 88 after landing a Navan maiden last summer and raced off 79 in this three-year-old contest over six furlongs. Settled towards the rear after breaking smartly, the winner picked up well to lead inside the final furlong and came home a length and a-half in front of Bad Boy Rizz. Winning trainer Ger Lyons said "He’s a grand fun horse. “They are lovely owners, Philip and Norma Richards. I don’t think they are overly well at the minute, so I’d like to send our love to them. “He’ll go up and down the handicap and win his races during the season, which he’s done today. “The handicapper will grab him, and then we’ll have to keep running him to get him back down to the mark and let him win again. “He’s not slow and the five has sharpened him up. He was a precocious two-year-old but clueless. “These are the type of horses that you are trying to latch on to, so that they grow into four and five-year-old competitive sprinters. They are nice ones to have, they are hard to get so hopefully we’ll keep him on the team.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
