Amo Racing continued their recent purple patch at Roscommon today, as UK-import Bryant (3/1) landed the District Speciality Coffee Apprentice Maiden for Group 1 Phoenix Stakes-winning trainer Adrian Murray.

Both Amo and Murray combined for top-level success with popular winner Power Blue at the Curragh on August 9 and today, keen-going Bryant overcame a 94-day break to score under jockey Sam Coen.

Coen held the son of Wootton Bassett up behind the leaders and while both stablemate Devine Genius and Superficial were well clear rounding the final bend, the winner quickened to lead on the inside under a furlong out, and eventually scored by 3.25 lengths from Sears Crossing .

Regarding the ex-George Scott-trained winner, Murray reported “he has improved plenty and Sam said there is still a bit improvement in him, he said he was a little bit green there around the bends.

“He won easy and is a nice horse going forward. We’ll see what the handicapper does and make a plan from there.”
