Anightaway wins Sligo finale for Sean Davis The Sean Davis trained Anightaway stepped up on previous efforts when staying on best to win the concluding Rockshore Cider Handicap at Sligo. Unplaced in all seven previous runs, including one over hurdles, the five-year-old opened his account in game fashion under Jimmy Dalton. Nicely supported from 33/1 into 11/1, the gelding was always in the first half dozen or so, travelling well just off the pace. Moving second entering the straight, Anightaway headed Eastern Wind a furlong out before keeping on to win by one-and-a-quarter lengths. It was a sixth winner of the season for jockey Jimmy Dalton. Sean Davis said: "After he ran in Navan, he wasn't right and in fairness to my 'back man', Shane Rattigan (equine physio based in Athlone) he did a lot of work with him and got him right. "We took our time with him and his work had been getting better and more consistent. "There aren't many of these 0-6os over a mile and a half, and after he worked well last week and the rain arrived, we said we'd come here. "I don't know much about the market support for him. I said to my partner Sinead this morning that I thought he'd run well, so maybe she was pressing a few buttons at home! "We'll enjoy this and look for something similar, he seems to stay well. "We've managed to gather up a few new horses in the yard, and hopefully we'll have a bit of luck for the remainder of the season." (Quotes by Mark Nunan).
