Annie Power's exertions at the Cheltenham Festival were a major factor behind her withdrawal from the Aintree Hurdle on Thursday.

The star mare's winning run was ended in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle when the six-year-old went down by a length and a half to More Of That.

Mullins had considered sending her to Merseyside for the Grade One over two and a half miles, but she is now likely to be kept on ice until the Punchestown Festival.

The champion trainer told the Guardian: "She had a hard enough race at Cheltenham.

"I was just thinking that if she took the sight out of my eye when I looked at her this week, she could go.

"She's well enough but we can wait."
