Another Batt hits target for Saints striker The ex-Irish Another Batt struck gold for Southampton striker Charlie Austin in the International Trakya Trophy at Veliefendi in Istanbul. The son of Windsor Knot began his career with John Nicholson in Co Tipperary, taking fifth on his Navan debut before finishing a good second behind Black Sails at the Curragh. He was appearing for the seventh time in three months since joining George Scott's Newmarket stable and this was his third win during that spell in which he has also been placed in three Listed races. Connections decided to try their luck abroad and Austin admitted not being too keen on the idea at first. Speaking from the Turkish racecourse, he told Press Association Sport: "It was very exciting. The plan worked. When George put the idea to me a couple of months ago I was a bit apprehensive, but it was a no-brainer in the end. I'm so pleased. "I didn't know what this place was like. They've been so good to us. "Not only that, I'm pleased for Tom and Chris, the two stable lads who have come over with him. I never realised how much hard work all the stable staff put in. It's brilliant for me, George, the syndicate and everyone back at home." The triumph was a feather in the cap for young trainer Scott. Oisin Murphy stuck close to the pace set by Timetodaygoodbye before asking Another Batt for an effort. He did so in style as he put the Group Three heat over six furlongs to bed quite quickly to win by a length and a half from Armondo. Scott said: "Oisin gave him a perfect tactical ride. He's got good gate speed in this grade and was able to hold a good position. We were keen to come down the middle of the track where the better ground was. "He tends to idle a little bit when he's in front so he was good value for the winning margin in the end. "He's a very versatile horse and he's improving physically the whole time. He's put on 28 kilos since he joined us which, considering he has run seven times, is brilliant. "As he tries so hard it may be worth travelling him a little bit. He's taken this trip very well. I would imagine he might be on course for a short break before maybe a trip to Dubai, but that is something we'll all discuss." Secret Number continued trainer Saeed bin Suroor and owner Godolphin's fine run in Turkey by storming to victory in the International Bosphorus Cup, but they missed out on a double when Dream Castle was edged out by German challenger Wonnemond in the Topkapi Trophy.
