Ansgar finished for year Sabrina Harty has put stable star Ansgar away for the year after he was found to be coughing following his run in the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp earlier this month. The six-year-old has enjoyed a fine campaign, winning the Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh in the middle of summer before securing the Supreme Stakes at Goodwood and the Park Stakes at Doncaster. He earned his shot at Group One glory in Paris on Arc day and though he came up short in finishing sixth, Harty feels her charge is better than he showed on the day. She said: "James (Doyle, jockey) said immediately after he came back in he didn't tank down to the start like he usually does and he flattened out during the race and shortly after that he started coughing. "A few of our younger horses have been coughing and he gave out maybe 15 or 20 coughs straight after the race in France, so that explains why he flattened out a bit. "When you consider that, we were delighted with the run and we've put him away now for a holiday. "We'll look forward to next year with him, but we've haven't made any plans. "At this stage I would say we'll bypass Dubai as there aren't many seven-furlong races out there and there are plenty of races in Ireland and England for him, but we'll see. "He's had a great year. To win one Group race with a horse is hard enough, so to win three in one season is fantastic for the horse and for us. "If all goes well and the ground happened to be good, maybe he'll be back at Longchamp in a year's time for another crack at the Foret."
