Troytown Chase winner Answer To Kayf is to be aimed at the Aintree Grand National according to Cork based trainer Terence O'Brien.

The 10-year-old provided both O'Brien and jockey John Shinnick with the biggest wins of their respective careers when landing the Navan feature in November.

Despite being raised 9lb subsequently, the Kayf Tara gelding showed that that revised mark may not be beyond him when a respectable fourth in the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park last week.

O'Brien reported: “He’s in great form, he came out of it very well.

“I can’t be disappointed. I know we were beaten 19 lengths but at the same time he finished fourth of 18 runners.

“There were plenty of good horses behind him with plenty of good form. You could make cases for an awful lot of them. I can’t complain, it was a good run.

“We’ll probably go for the Bobbyjo in a month’s time, the Grade 3.

“We’ll probably give him an entry for Aintree as the owner might never again get a chance, and he’s a ten-year-old.

“We’ll see, if the ground conditions are too quick we might not travel but we’ll give him an entry and see what happens. That’s the plan.”
