Approve eyes up Middle Park Stakes Approve is set to test his powers in Group One company following his determined victory in the Gimcrack Stakes at York on Wednesday. Having won the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, the William Haggas-trained juvenile appeared to have peaked after suffering defeat on his next couple of starts, but he bounced back to winning ways on the Knavesmire. Harry Herbert, racing manager for owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, is now eyeing up a tilt at the Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on October 1. "It was a fantastic day and he's such a tough little horse," said Herbert. "He relished that step back up in trip and to win giving 3lb to those horses was a hell of a performance. "He'll probably go to the Middle Park Stakes next. It fits in well timing-wise, so that is the most likely scenario at this stage."
