Ar Mad all set for Plumpton challenge Ar Mad faces just two rivals as he warms up for Cheltenham in the Download The At the Races App Novices' Limited Handicap Chase at Plumpton this afternoon. Since being beaten on his fencing debut at this track in October, Ar Mad has notched up a hat-trick including wins in the Henry VIII Novices' Chase at Sandown and Kempton's Wayward Lad Novices' Chase. Ar Mad is now a major contender for the Racing Post Arkle and his trainer Gary Moore is keen to try him back on a left-handed track. "He's been as good as gold. He had a bit of a break after Kempton," said the West Sussex handler. "The timing of the race is good and it will be interesting to see how he handles going left-handed. "If it all works out well and he comes out of the race OK he'll head to Cheltenham." Ar Mad has to concede 19lb to both Chill Factor and Alder Mairi but both are wrong in the weights as this is a limited handicap. The Seamus Mullins-trained Alder Mairi will try to make amends for a fall at Wincanton last month after winning his two previous races this winter. Chill Factor, trained by Anthony Honeyball, has not run since landing a handicap chase at Newton Abbot in April.
