Aspurofthemoment makes winning start to life with Cromwell Aspurofthemoment came from the clouds to nail hat-trick-seeking Falcon Park close home in the Langtons Kilkenny Handicap Hurdle over two miles at Gowran Park. Aclass was challenging Falcon Park at the last, however, he fluffed it and Falcon Park looked to have the race at his mercy with Aspurofthemoment behind in fourth in jumping that obstacle. The leader got tired on the run-in, though, and Keith Donoghue conjured up a strong finish from Aspurofthemoment in third upon touching down. They surged past Falcon Park approaching the line and won going away by a length and a-half to justify 4/1 favouritism. Runner-up Falcon Park went off a 6/1 chance and he was half a length up on Aclass (5/1). Aspurofthemoment was making his debut for Gavin Cromwell having won a point-to-point at Dromahane in November for Eugene O'Sullivan. Cromwell said: “It looked like they went hard enough up front and I thought we had no chance for the majority of the race. “We bought him in Goresbridge before Christmas and that’s his first run. We’re still trying to figure him out to be honest. “I don’t think he was in love with the ground and, when he got him out onto the better ground up the straight, he rallied really well. “He’ll definitely go further, and we’ll see what the handicapper does. “It’s a great initiative to have one of these races (on a big day like this). It’s great for the owners.” Additional reporting by Alan Magee
