The Aidan O'Brien trained Astrology ran out a very easy winner of the Group 3 Stobart Barristers Dee Stakes on the final day of the Chester Festival this afternoon.

Ridden by Joseph O'Brien, he took the son of Galileo to the front from the moment the stalls opened and one-by-one his rivals crumbled as the tempo was increased.

Turning for home only Oxford Charley was within hailing distance but he was brushed aside as the 11-10 favourite bounded further clear for an 11 length success.

Kingsdesire and Uriah Heep were never a factor, seemingly ill-at-ease on the testing ground.

Paddy Power cut the winner to 20's from 33-1 for the Investec Derby.

The winning rider said afterwards: "We went a good gallop the whole way, he was in front a long time and he was idling a bit. I had to give him a few cracks but he stayed on all the way to the line."

Aidan O'Brien added: "He was a nice colt last year and he ran well in a Group Two (Futurity Stakes, third to Dragon Pulse) in Ireland and a nice race in a Group Three (Autumn Stakes) at Newmarket.

"We were worried about the ground, but he is a typical Galileo with a really nice rhythm. We will see how things develop, we've got Wrote who runs at Leopardstown (in the Derrinstown on Sunday) and he has been in good form since Dubai.

"Furner's Green goes to France (French 2000 Guineas on Sunday) but doesn't have the best of the draw and Ernest Hemingway will run in the Dante (at York on Thursday) as long as the ground is good."
