Attraction Ready For Newbury Test

Attraction is on course to make her eagerly-awaited return to action in the stanjamesuk.com Hungerford Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.

Mark Johnston´s filly, who made history last year when she became the first horse to complete the 1000 Guineas double at Newmarket and the Curragh, has not raced since disappointing in Hong Kong in May.

'She had a fetlock injury which she took a while to get over and that has disrupted a lot of the season,' Johnston told At The Races.

'Then we didn´t feel she was quite ready for the Falmouth and then for her intended target in France the ground was very soft so we gave that a miss. So we´ve had limited opportunities with her.'

But she is now ready to run in this weekend´s seven-furlong Group Three contest, for which she will carry an 8lb penalty as a result of her top-flight victory in the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket last October.

'She´s in very good shape now but we´ll be delighted to get another run on British soil under her belt,' the Middleham trainer added.

'The Matron Stakes or QEII would be possibilities but if she comes back on song then we´ll have to think again because she has actually had a very light year.'
