David Marnane followed up a 76/1 double at Cork yesterday evening as Ballymagreehan took the Membership At Gowran Park Golf Club Handicap in impressive fashion.

The 4/1 shot, who was available at 12/1 this morning, made virtually all under Luke McAteer and took control when ridden to assert over a furlong out.

The Paul Rooney-owned gelding stayed on strongly to beat Chipsrdown by a comfortable four lengths with Hale Bopp a further length and a half away in third.

Marnane said, “When Mick (Halford) retired we got him. To be fair, Mick always liked him. He won last year and, we were delighted for him.

“He's for a great owner; loves the game, very enthusiastic owner. That's his second win for us now, so it's great.

“He's only had a couple of runs on turf, but he might just want that nice ground.”
