Avalo wins decisively under Coen Avalo was a good winner of the Treo Eile Maiden Hurdle in Wexford to seal a first career success at the sixth time of asking. A lovely jump three out saw him take much closer order on the leader Cappa Hill and he travelled well for Jake Coen to take over approaching the bend before two out. He got away from that flight in stride and readily increased his margin before the final obstacle. He jumped it safely and came home well clear by six lengths at a well-backed 6/1. Kalaroun couldn't land a blow on him in second at 33/1. Some three non runners - Following Orders , Son Of Anarchy and Hurricane Bailey - reduced the field to six runners over this two-and-a-half-mile trip. Peter Fahey said: "He was probably crying out for a bit of good ground the whole time. He was working really well at home and it's great for Seamus Perry who is a big part of the team at home. He owns a good bit of him with my wife Ber. He'll be a nice horse to go along with for the summer. "We were definitely happy with the non-runners, it made things a bit easier for us. "He ran a cracker the first day in a four-year-old maiden hurdle, but we never got to build from it as he had little issues and my horses probably weren't the healthiest last season. He just wasn't running up to scratch. "Everything came right today and hopefully he'll continue to tip away now." Additional reporting by Donal Murphy
