Award claims Woodcote for Stack High Award dominated the Investec Woodcote Stakes under Johnny Murtagh on Derby day at Epsom. Carrying the orange and blue Michael Tabor silks and trained by Tommy Stack, the juvenile had made an early start to his career by winning a Curragh maiden in March and was fourth in a strong Listed race at the same course last time. Murtagh took advantage of the lack of early pace, on the 7/1 shot, and was a length and a half too strong for 5-2 favourite Dubawi Gold. "He had plenty of experience and handled the track well," said Stack's son and assistant, Fozzy. "He is a very laid-back horse and has done nothing but eat, sleep and drink since he came to us. "We worked him hard to win first time out, but I suppose we've been easy on him the last couple of times and those have put him right for today. "We'll think about Ascot now, where we have the Coventry, Norfolk and Windsor Castle as options."
