Ayr Gold Cup card hit by weather problems There will be a second inspection at Ayr at 1.45pm after heavy rain left a patch of waterlogged ground. The Scottish track was hit with a deluge overnight and in the morning, with eight millimetres falling in one 40-minute spell. That left a problem area around half a furlong from the winning post and it was unavoidable. Clerk of the course Graeme Anderson and officials checked the track at 12.20pm and are hoping conditions now allow the first race to take place at 2.20pm, an hour later than scheduled.
