Back injury grounds Air Force Air Force One faces some time on the treatment table after a back injury was held responsible for his lacklustre run in the Stan James King George VI Chase. Well fancied for the Kempton showpiece following his second place in the Hennessy Gold Cup, the chestnut failed to show his usual sparkle and eventually finished a distant fifth behind Kauto Star. 'He has torn all the ligaments in his back and I think he did it at the second fence, which explains his run,' reported trainer Charlie Mann. 'He was with the vets on Monday and will be having massage and going under the heat lamps. It's soft-tissue damage, so it's going to take time to recover from.'
