The Paddy Twomey trained Super Sox followed up last years win in the Listed NFP Irish EBF Platinum Stakes at Cork when just doing enough to land a narrow victory under Chris Hayes.

Prominent throughout in what turned into a tactical race, the 3/1 chance was pushed along to maintain a slender lead over a furlong out.

Strongly pressed by the Joseph O'Brien trained Gutsy Girl inside the last 150 yards, the four-year-old daughter of Showcasing stuck her neck out bravely to score by a head.

Paddy Twomey said: “She won this race last year and likes straight tracks and good ground.

“She definitely stepped forward from her run in Naas and hopefully she will step back into Group company.

“She has the speed for six but seven furlongs is a good trip for her.”
