Bob Baffert continues to make a good recovery after suffering a heart attack on Monday and is expected to be released from hospital later this week, owner Bernie Schiappa has revealed.

The well-known American trainer, 59, is in Dubai preparing Game On Dude for Saturday's World Cup but had to be rushed for medical treatment in the early hours of Monday morning.

"It is very encouraging, he's resting well today," said Schiappa, an owner of Game On Dude.

"Hopefully he'll be be moved out of intensive care into another room, hopefully discharged on Thursday and everything should be fine and going along according to as it's supposed to.

"He's doing well, as well as could be expected, and everything turned out great."

Baffert has won two Dubai World Cups already. Game On Dude was beaten a length and a half by Drosselmeyer in the Breeders' Cup Classic and won a warm-up race at Santa Anita in easy fashion.

"I'm very excited to be here," Schiappa added.

"If he runs his race he'll be tough to beat. He's a fighter, he never gives up. You might think he's done but he keeps on coming."

On the different conditions, he said: "Jack Nicklaus is a golfer. I don't think he cared where he played golf and he won more championships than any other golfer.

"If you're an athlete you can run on water, you can run on stone. I don't think it's going to matter."
