Bahrain has Champion Hurdle targets

Pat Flynn is targeting Bahrain Storm at the Irish and English Champion Hurdles next winter after the six-year-old won races on successive days at the Galway Festival.

After springing a 20-1 surprise in the Galway Hurdle on Thursday, Bahrain Storm showed his versatility with victory on the Flat in the Guinness Race over a mile and a three-quarters.

Not surprisingly, the Bahhare gelding is now enjoying a well-deserved break.

"He's having a two-week holiday. He's out all day in the lovely paddock with his nice rug having a great old time," said the County Waterford trainer.

"We're definitely going to train him for next year's Irish and English Champion Hurdles, but in the meantime it will be weather dependent, and I don't mind if we don't run him again this year.

"We'll probably ease him back into it again and if we see a nice conditions race that suits him we'll go for it.

"He's awesome on good ground. We took that race in on the last day because he was well in. It was on soft ground but we got away with it because he was so really well in himself."
