Bajan Back On Hurdling Trail

Blue Bajan is to have another crack at hurdling, two years after his last effort.

Trainer Andy Turnell is looking at Friday's Felix Rosenstiel?s Widow & Son Introductory Hurdle at Ascot for his gelding, who has become a very smart Flat handicapper in the meantime.

Winner of the City and Suburban Handicap this summer as well as finishing a head second to Maraahel in the Huxley Stakes, Blue Bajan's only previous jumping outing was when he was fourth behind no less than Twist Magic in December 2005.

'He'll either run at Ascot, or Aintree on Sunday, but probably Ascot as the race is for horses who haven't had more than one run over hurdles,' said Turnell.

'He didn't quite get home in his one run, but it turned out to be quite a good race.

'I think he had got to where he was going to on the Flat. If he can reach those heights over hurdles, that would be great, but if he doesn't, he can go back to the Flat. He jumps very well anyway.'
