Balder best in the Pendil Balder Succes is set to skip Cheltenham after winning the BetBright Mobile Pendil Novices' Chase at Kempton. Alan King's representative (9-4) has easily transferred his decent hurdling form to fences and was making it two Grade Two victories in a row after his Warwick triumph a fortnight earlier. Wayne Hutchinson was happy to let things unfold in front of him and launched his challenge halfway down the home straight, eventually staying on a length and a quarter clear of the rallying God's Own. King said: "We didn't ride him as aggressively today, and it gives us options. I don't think he goes to Cheltenham - the owners aren't keen on it - and that's why he ran today. He can go to Aintree and Punchestown, though." Hutchinson added: "He's really taken to it, he travelled lovely and settled well. His jumping was electric, really good. He's really neat when you want him, and he's got a bit of scope."
