Ballyegan a worthy fav at Towcester The former Tom Cooper-trained Ballyegan looks a worthy favourite for the Ladbrokes Mobile Masters Handicap Chase at 2.55 at Towcester today. A half-brother to Mouse Morris' four-time winner Baily Rock from the family of Italian Derby second Backdrop and fairly useful jumpers Miss Diskin and Perknapp, Ballyegan won a Dromahane 'point' at the end of 2009. Cooper said of Ballyegan after that success: "We decided to drop him out here as he ran a little free on his first run at Glenbane. I knew that he would see out the trip today and he's a grand horse to look forward to." That Dromahane win was achieved on heavy ground and the soft surface at the stamina-sapping Towcester today should suit the Saddlers' Hall gelding well as will his light-weight with Nathan Sweeney up to claim 7Ibs off Bob Buckler's charge. Ballyegan cost Buckler £26,000 at Brightwells Cheltenham Sale this time last year and he has progressed with experience under rules.
