Bapak Chinta wins Norfolk Stakes

Kevin Ryan's Bapak Chinta won the Norfolk Stakes, the opening race on day three at Royal Ascot.

The grey Speightsown colt went off a well-fancied 6-1 chance and was always prominent under Phillip Makin.

Boomerang Bob (20-1) looked like he would pose a major threat when looming large on the winner's outside a furlong from home but Bapak Chinta found more to win by a length.

Boomerang Bob finished second with Crown Dependency (8-1) running on well on the stands' side for third.

Ryan said: "He's a very good horse - he does everything right at home. "We came here very confident, but the rain came and I just got a bit worried.

"His breeding suggests he wants top of the ground, but it's a sign of a good horse when they can overcome that.

"He would have found it tough work on that ground, but he's just a very good horse.

"Everything he does, he does it easy. He's got a lovely attitude and is a joy to train."
