Barizan wins the Swinton Barizan (8/1) landed a gamble in the Grade 3 Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle at Haydock Park. Evan Williams' charge was tried in first time tongue strap and blinkers and those that took the hint were to be rewarded as the seven-year-old put in a typically robust performance to land the spoils. The sometime front-runner had to sit behind outsider Ruler Of All for the majority of the first circuit but Paul Moloney assumed the lead as they took the third from home and his mount gave willingly. Mr Mole emerged from off the pace in order to chase the winner but he travelled with a very awkward head carriage and continued to do so despite the best efforts of Harry Derham to correct him. The front pair finished a long way clear of third placed, Local Hero. Turn Over Sivola was sent off as favourite following the withdrawal of morning fancy, Forgotten Voice, but he weakened quickly having sat some way off the initial pace.
