Bombay Sapphire caused a 28/1 upset when landing Gowran's concluding Ronan Lawlor Memorial EBF (Mares) Bumper on debut today, scoring for trainer Ken Budds and jockey Darragh Allen.

By Shirocco, the same sire as Annie Power, the five year old today sported a tongue-tie on debut and while strongly pressed throughout the final quarter mile by Willie Mullins' 10/11 favourite Walk In The Brise battled gamely to win by a half length.

Third-placed Covermeinsunshine having her third start, also finished well and was another half-length away in third.

Winning trainer Budds who on lead-up and remarked “she’s always worked well but we could never get to the end of her. You would always think there was a bit more and today she showed that there was plenty.

“She’s tough and is from a staying family. She’s a real nice mare and we’ll see what happens after this.”
