Beautiful Romance to bypass Oaks Saeed bin Suroor's Beautiful Romance is set to miss the Investec Oaks at Epsom. The twice-raced filly, as short as 10-1 in places for the June 5 Classic, has not been seen since finishing third to Osaila in the Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket last month. Bin Suroor said: "Beautiful Romance had a setback when she ran at Newmarket last time in the Nell Gwyn." He added: "Although she's still in the Oaks, she is unlikely to go for it. She's back in light training and we will now maybe take her to Royal Ascot for the Ribblesdale." Another Oaks entry for Bin Suroor is Very Special, who was taken out of a race at York on Friday. The trainer said: "Very Special was coughing a lot (on Friday) and she scoped very badly. "She had been doing really well until then. After she had won at Kempton the plan was to go to the race at York (Michael Seely Memorial Stakes). We will maybe look at a Listed race at Haydock with her." Epsom Derby contender Best Of Times was a Listed winner at Newmarket earlier this month and could return in the Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood this week. Bin Suroor said: "We might take Best Of Times to Goodwood. The horse is doing well and has come back from his win at Newmarket sound and healthy. We will check on the ground for him, but it's so far, so good." Fellow Derby entry Future Empire will be given time to recover from his exertions at Chester's May meeting, when he was last of six runners in the Chester Vase. "When Future Empire ran last time the ground was not right for him," said the Newmarket-based handler. "He needs some time off so we will give him a break before getting ready to give him a go again."
