Beautiful makes the breakthrough 13 proved a lucky number for Beautiful Affair as she opened her account in the seven-furlong maiden at Dundalk this afternoon. The Joseph O’Brien-trained daughter of Wootton Bassett had been placed four times from 12 previous starts and gained important winning brackets this time, in first time blinkers. Julian Pietropaolo produced the 15/8 shot to lead passing the furlong pole and she stuck on well to record a length-and-a-half success over Ready To Mingle. The winner is a half-sister to Emporio, who was Listed placed, and the ill-fated Sherpa, who was placed in Group 3 company. Pietropaolo said: "The blinkers really sparked something in her today. "I was always confident, she travelled away down to the furlong pole and she put the race to bed. "Great to ride the winner for a lovely group of owners (Thoroughbred Racing Syndicate & Bronsan Racing) and a big, massive thanks to Joseph as well for the opportunity. "Hopefully now we will be expecting a big improvement." (Quotes by Michael Graham)
