Beginners Chase next on Shinrock's agenda

Paul Nolan will take a drop in class with Shinrock Paddy as he seeks a first chase victory with the Grade One-winning hurdler.

The seven-year-old has failed to convince in three starts over fences so far, although he did finish second behind the impressive Bog Warrior in last weekend's Grade One Drinmore Novices Chase.

He was beaten some 31 lengths at Fairyhouse, and Nolan said: "It was nice to pick up second place money but when you've got a 150-rated hurdler you'd want more.

"He just hasn't been taking on his fences enough, he's showing them too much respect and putting in short ones when he should be going long.

"We need to get his jumping together and I think we will look down the scale a little bit and go for a beginners' chase next.

"We will stay over fences with him and hopefully his jumping will come together. There's no point going back over hurdles as his division looks very competitive with the likes of Voler La Vedette and Thousand Stars in there."
