Behrajan `fine` ahead of Hennessy

Henry Daly today reported that his Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup hope Behrajan was in good form following his third-placed effort at Haydock.

The six-year-old was a beaten favourite behind Kingsmark in the Edward Hanmer Memorial Chase earlier this month.

'He`s fine,' said the trainer.

The ground was good when he ran at Haydock but Daly said he was unworried by what the going might be at Newbury for the Stg£100,000 showpiece.

'He runs on most ground,' added Daly.

He said Mark Bradburne, who rode Behrajan at Haydock, was again in line for the mount.

'It might be Mark Bradburne again but I will have to talk to the owners about it,' he said.

Behrajan was a top staying hurdler in 1999/2000, winning a good-class event at Haydock before finishing third to Bacchanal and Limestone Lad at the Cheltenham Festival.

He took well to fences last season, landing three of his five races and finishing second in the other two.

Meanwhile, Philip Hobbs has still to confirm find a rider for What`s Up Boys but Paul Flynn is the preferred choice.

The trainer`s wife Sarah said: 'He is hoping for Paul Flynn but he is going to decide in the next few days. The horse is very well.'

Seven-year-old What`s Up Boys has not run since finishing second to Ad Hoc in the Whitbread Gold Cup at Sandown in April.
