Bella backs up for McConnell Bella Union bagged a quick follow-up success at Down Royal today for trainer John McConnell. The Mahler gelding had opened his account at Bellewstown 16 days ago and went to post an 8/1 shot in the Club Lemon Handicap Hurdle. Dylan Kidd produced his mount to press Justicialism two from home in the two-mile-one contest and he led after the last for a three-parts-of-a-length success. Kidd said: "He did it nicely. "He won the last day in Bellewstown and probably the seven (pound claim) off today really helped. Nice to get it. "I was in no rush, he's a bit of a tricky horse to ride really and you just kind of have to ride him his own way. Hopefully, he's on his day then.
