Bellaphina (13/2) gave trainer John Kinsella another big-race Curragh success today, landing the Gain Summer Fillies & Mares Handicap on Derby Day under jockey James Ryan.

Successful in the 2023 Spring Fillies Premier Handicap on Guineas Weekend, five-year-old Bellaphina today registered a fourth career success when improving from off the pace to eventually quicken to a 1.25 lengths win over Dance Night Andday

Rathdrum, Co Wicklow-based Kinsella commented “she has always been held in high regard and won a Premier Handicap here as a three-year-old. This year she had a good run in Gowran on heavy ground and then got a setback before getting no luck in running at Limerick the last day. She’s very quick and you can’t go too early on her.

“She’s in a Group 3 at Leopardstown on July 10 (Brownstown Stakes) and all going to plan, she will go there.”
