John Murphy's Best Not Argue (13/2f) was the decisive winner of Division One of the mile handicap in Gowran Park.

The four-year-old filly raced in mid-division for Colin Keane as Punches Pious and Julie Burke opened up a clear lead.

Best Not Argue was ridden to improve into third two furlongs out and soon set into reducing the deficit to Punches Pious who was off the bridle in front.

Best Not Argue relentlessly pursued the leader and swept by him entering the final furlong. Punches Pious had no more to give as Best Not Argue passed the post five and a half lengths to the good.

Punches Pious (8/1) held on for second. He finished a length and three quarters in front of Double Fast (7/1).

“She stayed on well. It suited her the way they went hard in front as she had something to run at,” said the trainer's son George Murphy.

“She handled the ground better than I thought she would. She had form on yielding but it's quite heavy out there now.”
