Bigger things ahead for Bonus after maiden win Bonus Time produced a fine front-running performance to open her account in the Quinnbet Irish EBF Fillies Maiden at the Curragh. The Gavin Cromwell-trained filly had chased home City Of Memphis on her debut at Cork earlier in the month. She went to post 11/8 second choice in the market for today’s six-furlong contest and bounced out to make all under Gary Carroll. The Too Darn Hot filly was joined by market rival Naoi (5/4f) at halfway but kicked on from that rival over a furlong out and went on to score by a length-and-three-quarters from Cold Hearted. “She had a lovely first run behind a filly that is running in the Guineas and she has come forward from it,” said Carroll. “She’s very professional. She got a little bit lonely when she hit the front. I was coasting to the furlong pole when Billy (Lee on Naoi) dropped off, I gave her a squeeze then and away with her. “I think she’s a smart filly. Gavin asked me what I thought and I said ‘whatever beats us will win’. “Hopefully she’s a nice filly going forward. I don’t know the plan, she could go to Ascot or somewhere like that. She’s above average.”
